Jan Suraaj Party founder Prashant Kishor has disclosed extensive details about his personal background, family, education and financial status. He submitted the information in the election affidavit filed along with his nomination papers for the Bankipur Assembly by-election.
The affidavit offers a detailed account of his personal and financial profile.
The disclosure comes amid frequent questions and allegations by political opponents that little information about Kishor’s life before 2012 was available in the public domain.
According to the affidavit, Prashant Kishor is 49 years old. His late father was Srikant Pandey, and his ancestral home is in Konar village under the Shiv Sagar police station area of Bihar’s Rohtas district.
The affidavit also provides details of his wife, Jahnavi Das, and their son, Daivik Vardhawaj, as part of the mandatory nomination process.
The affidavit states that the combined assets of Prashant Kishor and his wife are close to Rs 200 crore. His wife, Jahnavi Das, owns a larger share of the family’s wealth. The disclosure forms part of the financial details submitted with his election affidavit.
Prashant Kishor has declared movable assets worth Rs 22,19,74,976 and immovable assets worth Rs 73,87,00,000. His wife has declared movable assets worth Rs 89,51,67,249 and immovable assets worth Rs 12,42,00,000. The couple has also disclosed ownership of several fixed deposits.
Kishor has listed his profession as a political adviser and consultant, while Jahnavi Das is employed as a doctor at Apollo Indraprastha Hospital in New Delhi.
The affidavit further notes that despite the family’s substantial wealth, Prashant Kishor does not own any vehicle, including a car or a motorcycle.
The affidavit also outlines Kishor’s educational journey. He passed his matriculation from MP High School, Buxar, in 1991 and completed Intermediate from Patna Science College in 1993. He subsequently earned a Bachelor of Business Administration (BBA) degree from Lucknow University.
Between 2001 and 2003, Prashant Kishor completed a postgraduate programme in Master of Healthcare Management at ASCI Hyderabad. In 2010, he also completed a French language course at Cavilam–Vichy, Clermont-Ferrand University, France.
Financial disclosures in the affidavit show that Kishor paid Rs 4.45 crore in income tax during the financial years 2020-21 to 2024-25. He also paid Rs 5.58 crore in Goods and Services Tax (GST) during the period.
The affidavit was filed as part of his nomination for the Bankipur Assembly by-election. It provides a comprehensive account of his personal, professional and financial profile. The document also makes public details that had previously been the subject of political debate.
