Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Saturday applauded President Droupadi Murmu for her unwavering commitment to public welfare and national progress.
Speaking at a function in Rairangpur, PM Modi described her journey from Mayurbhanj district to Rashtrapati Bhavan as an extraordinary achievement that continues to inspire people across the country.
Extending birthday wishes to the President, PM Modi prayed for her well-being and continued service to the nation.
During the programme, the Prime Minister announced that Pahadpur would be developed into a fully solar-powered village under a dedicated renewable energy initiative. He said the government would prioritise the project to ensure that every home in the village gains access to solar electricity.
According to PM Modi, households will benefit from reduced energy costs, while excess power generation could provide residents with an additional stream of earnings.
Referring to the historic Sun Temple at Konark, the Prime Minister said Pahadpur has the potential to become a symbol of clean energy adoption and sustainable growth. He said the Surya Ghar programme will implement the project to showcase how renewable energy can transform rural communities and enhance their quality of life.
President Murmu said the Prime Minister’s visit reflected his close association with Odisha and his continued focus on the welfare of tribal communities. She remarked that his presence in the region underscored the Centre’s commitment to expanding opportunities and improving living conditions in remote areas.
As part of his one-day visit to Odisha, PM Modi travelled to Pahadpur and joined President Murmu in offering prayers at the revered Santhali Jahera and also Ho Jahera sacred groves.
