Union Home Minister Amit Shah on Saturday asserted that the debate over rival Shiv Sena factions has effectively ended, maintaining that the organisation headed by Eknath Shinde now represents the party in its entirety.
Shah delivered the remarks while attending a programme in Kolhapur where he launched the ₹1,445.97-crore Mahalakshmi (Ambabai) Temple redevelopment and corridor initiative.
During his address, Shah introduced Eknath Shinde as the chief of Shiv Sena and Maharashtra’s Deputy Chief Minister, signalling clear support for his leadership.
Recalling how the party was previously described as the ‘Shinde faction’, Shah remarked that such terminology no longer applied because there was now only one Shiv Sena operating in the state.
Political circles viewed Shah’s comments as a significant message amid continuing reports of unrest within Shiv Sena (UBT).
The discussion gained momentum after six of the nine Lok Sabha MPs belonging to Shiv Sena (UBT) reportedly remained absent from a parliamentary party meeting called by Uddhav Thackeray in New Delhi.
Earlier, Eknath Shinde suggested that recent political developments were only the beginning of a larger process.
Addressing supporters, the Minister indicated that additional changes could unfold in the near future.
Using combative rhetoric, Shinde criticised his opponents and projected confidence in his political standing, portraying himself as unfazed by attacks from rival leaders.
The verbal battle between the Shinde-led Shiv Sena and the Uddhav Thackeray faction has intensified in recent days.
Shinde’s latest remarks appeared to counter warnings issued by leaders from the opposing camp regarding potential action against legislators accused of rebellion.
As political uncertainty continues to grip Maharashtra, attention remains focused on whether the state could witness another major shift in party loyalties in the coming weeks.
