Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Thursday received a rousing welcome from members of the Indian community during a diaspora event in Paris, where a large gathering turned up to meet and listen to him.
Addressing the gathering, PM Modi said he felt as though he was attending a Bharat Connect event as he neared the conclusion of his visit to France. He said he had come carrying the greetings of 140 crore Indians and expressed heartfelt gratitude to the community for the warm welcome.
The Prime Minister noted that his government had recently completed 12 years in office and described ‘serving the country as chosen Prime Minister daily for 12 years’ as his greatest fortune.
“This is the power of Indian democracy, which made a tea seller reach till here,” he added.
PM Modi also highlighted India’s development journey, stating that the country’s GDP has doubled during this period. He further noted that the number of airports and universities in India has also doubled.
The interaction with the diaspora formed part of the final leg of the Prime Minister’s visit to France and Slovakia.
Members of the Indian diaspora expressed joy and pride after meeting the Prime Minister, describing the occasion as a memorable moment that strengthened their connection with India despite living abroad.
Several members of the community gathered to welcome him and shared their experiences following the interaction.
Earlier in the day, PM Modi arrived in Paris and addressed VivaTech 2026, one of Europe’s largest technology and innovation conferences.
During his visit, the Prime Minister also attended the G7 Summit in Evian and held bilateral meetings with several world leaders.
