Residents of Delhi-NCR felt relief from intense summer heat on Wednesday as partly cloudy skies and cooler conditions reduced temperatures across the region.

Light rain and thunderstorms are likely at isolated places during the afternoon and evening hours.

The IMD said Delhi will remain partly cloudy with chances of light rain, lightning and thunderstorms in some areas.

Maximum temperature will range between 33°C and 35°C, while minimum temperature will stay between 26°C and 28°C.

Meteorologists said both day and night temperatures are currently below normal.

Maximum temperatures will remain 1.6°C to 3°C lower than normal across most parts of the city, while minimum temperatures will stay near normal levels.

Delhi recorded a sharp weather shift on Tuesday when rain, gusty winds and overcast skies cooled conditions significantly and marked the coolest day of June so far.

At Safdarjung observatory, the maximum temperature settled at 33.3°C, which stood 5.5°C below the seasonal average.

Weather experts said sustained atmospheric moisture will prevent any sharp rise in temperatures in the immediate future.

The IMD has forecast thunderstorms over Delhi and nearby areas until June 21, after which temperatures will gradually rise later in the month.

A Western Disturbance between June 18 and June 22 will bring light to moderate rain over the Western Himalayas and isolated showers in northwest India.

Delhi’s air quality remains in the ‘moderate’ range, supported by recent rain and stronger winds.
