The collection included paintings created by Slovak artists who had recently travelled to Varanasi and explored its traditions, architecture, and spiritual atmosphere.
Drawing inspiration from their visit, the artists portrayed various elements of the city’s identity, capturing scenes that reflected its distinctive character and cultural significance.
The Ministry of External Affairs stated that Slovak artists organised the exhibition around the theme ‘Varanasi City’ and showcased artistic interpretations of the city’s heritage, daily life and religious traditions.
As they toured the exhibition, PM Modi and President Pellegrini commended the creativity displayed in the artworks and recognised the efforts made to interpret Varanasi through an international lens.
Both leaders observed that cultural collaborations can strengthen relations beyond diplomacy and commerce by encouraging greater people-to-people interaction.
The event also demonstrated the expanding cultural partnership between India and Slovakia and illustrated how shared appreciation for art can help foster stronger and more enduring international friendships.
