Finnish President Alexander Stubb and External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar held discussions in Helsinki during the Kultaranta Talks, addressing several pressing international issues and areas of mutual concern.
After the meeting, President Stubb stated that their conversation covered developments in the Middle East and the Persian Gulf, ongoing efforts to achieve peace in Ukraine, and expectations surrounding the forthcoming G7 Summit. He noted that India’s perspective carries considerable weight in contemporary global discussions.

Both leaders exchanged assessments of the rapidly changing international environment and stressed the need for constructive dialogue to address emerging global challenges.
Commenting on the meeting, Jaishankar said the discussions provided an opportunity to review major geopolitical trends and reaffirm the value of diplomacy in maintaining stability amid growing uncertainty.
The External Affairs Minister highlighted the continued commitment of India and Finland to deepen collaboration under their Strategic Partnership in Digitalisation and Sustainability. He also underlined the importance of closer coordination between the two nations in multilateral institutions, particularly on issues where their interests converge.

As part of the Kultaranta Talks, EAM Jaishankar joined Finnish Foreign Minister Elina Valtonen and UAE Minister of State Lana Nusseibeh for a discussion examining the role of emerging powers in a changing geopolitical landscape.
During the session, Jaishankar observed that ongoing conflicts are producing far-reaching economic and strategic consequences that extend well beyond the affected regions.
The External Affairs Minister reiterated that India’s energy procurement decisions are driven by national priorities, economic considerations, and availability.
The Minister also highlighted the growing significance of India’s relationship with the Gulf region, supported by strong people-to-people connections, energy cooperation, and expanding strategic engagement.
