HBCH&RC Punjab Partners With ESIC Haryana To Expand Cashless Cancer Care

To enhance access to affordable healthcare, Homi Bhabha Cancer Hospital and Research Centre (HBCH&RC), Punjab, has entered into a partnership with the Employees’ State Insurance Corporation (ESIC), Haryana.

The empanelment will enable ESIC Haryana beneficiaries and staff members to receive cashless treatment at the institute’s New Chandigarh and Sangrur campuses.

Dr Ashish Gulia, Director of HBCH&RC Punjab, and Hari Om Prakash, Regional Director of ESIC Haryana, signed the Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) in the presence of senior officials from both organisations.

HBCH&RC Punjab already serves beneficiaries under ESIC Punjab, ESIC Chandigarh, ESIC Ludhiana and ESIC Himachal Pradesh.

The latest partnership further strengthens the institute’s commitment to providing affordable and specialised cancer care to patients across North India, regardless of their financial background.

Under the ESIC scheme, beneficiaries can access a comprehensive range of healthcare services, including outpatient and inpatient care, diagnostic and laboratory facilities, emergency services, daycare treatment and radiotherapy.

Nearly 3,000 ESIC cardholders received cashless treatment at HBCH&RC Punjab between April 2025 and March 2026.

Dr Ashish Gulia said the empanelment would improve access to affordable cancer care and reaffirmed the institute’s commitment to patient-centred treatment.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi dedicated the ₹660-crore hospital to the nation in August 2022.

The 300-bed New Chandigarh facility, along with its 150-bed Sangrur unit, however, provides advanced cancer treatments and serves as a major cancer care hub for the region.
