Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Sunday urged citizens to take precautions against the intense summer heat affecting many parts of the country.

Speaking during the 134th episode of his monthly radio programme, Mann Ki Baat, PM Modi advised people to stay hydrated, avoid excessive exposure to the sun and follow safety guidelines issued by authorities.

Referring to the soaring temperatures and heatwave conditions, the Prime Minister stressed the importance of taking care of one’s health during the summer months. He encouraged people to drink sufficient water and adopt simple measures to remain safe in extreme weather.

PM Modi highlighted India’s rich tradition of preparing seasonal beverages that help the body stay cool. He noted that as temperatures rise, kitchens across the country adapt with traditional foods and drinks made from locally available ingredients.

The Prime Minister spoke about several popular summer beverages enjoyed in different regions of India.

PM Modi highlighted popular summer drinks across India, including Aam Panna, lassi, buttermilk, Sattu Sharbat, Kokum Sharbat and Sol Kadhi, noting their role in helping people stay cool and refreshed during the hot season.

PM Modi also highlighted regional drinks such as Panakam, Neer Mor, Sambaram and Odisha’s Bela Panna. He said these traditional beverages help beat the heat while reflecting India’s cultural diversity and the spirit of ‘Ek Bharat, Shreshtha Bharat’.

Encouraging people to embrace these age-old remedies, PM Modi urged citizens to enjoy traditional summer drinks and stay healthy during the intense summer season.
