Rajasthan Royals (RR) won the toss and decided to bowl first against Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) in their second-to-last league fixture of IPL 2026 at the Sawai Mansingh Stadium on Tuesday.
Although three teams have already secured qualification, the contest for the remaining playoff position continues to remain highly competitive, with five sides still in the mix.
RR are facing mounting pressure following a string of three successive losses that have disrupted their early momentum.
After a dominant start with four wins, Rajasthan have struggled in recent matches, managing only two victories from their last eight outings.
Their disappointing performances at their home venue in Jaipur have added to their concerns, with the team yet to register a win there this season.
Another loss could jeopardise their chances of progressing, while a victory would keep their fate in their own hands.
On the other hand, Lucknow Super Giants approach the game with less pressure as they have already exited the playoff race.
Despite this, the team has shown renewed confidence, particularly in their previous match against the Chennai Super Kings.
A strong display in this encounter could further complicate the qualification scenario for other teams.
What the Captains Said
Stand-in skipper Yashasvi Jaiswal stated that the pitch looked favourable for chasing and mentioned the possibility of dew influencing the game later. He also confirmed a few changes to the playing XI due to injuries within the squad.
Lucknow captain Rishabh Pant expressed confidence in his side’s abilities, emphasising the importance of playing with pride and intent in every match. He revealed that Aiden Markram is unavailable due to personal reasons, while Mohammed Shami misses out, and Mohsin Khan returns to the side.
Rajasthan Royals: Yashasvi Jaiswal (c), Lhuan-dre Pretorius, Dhruv Jurel (wk), Donovan Ferreira, Shubham Dubey, Dasun Shanaka, Jofra Archer, Sandeep Sharma, Sushant Mishra, Birjesh Sharma, Yash Raj Punja.
