On Saturday, Union Home and Cooperation Minister Amit Shah held multiple review meetings in Ahmedabad to examine the status of development works across the Gandhinagar Lok Sabha constituency.
The meetings took place at the South-West Zone Office in Ahmedabad’s Jodhpur area. During the sessions, Shah reviewed projects related to urban infrastructure, healthcare, civic administration, and environmental initiatives.
By afternoon, six meetings had already taken place in the presence of Gujarat Minister Harsh Sanghavi and Chief Secretary Manoj Kumar Das.
Officials said discussions largely focused on preparations for large-scale plantation drives planned before the monsoon. The initiative forms part of the ‘Green Lok Sabha’ campaign.
The review sessions also assessed the progress of the Sarkhej-Gandhinagar Highway modernisation project.
Shah additionally examined work related to pond restoration and interlinking projects in the constituency.
Development activities associated with the Gujarat Urban Development Company and the Mansa municipality also came up for discussion.
The administration conducted separate meetings to evaluate the functioning of government hospitals in the constituency. The discussions also reviewed the activities of the Akhand Anand and Sastu Sahitya Mudranalaya Trust.
Two more engagements were scheduled later in the day. Shah was likely to meet coordinators connected with the ‘Ramshe Balak – Khileshe Balak’ toy collection campaign and later interact with newly elected councillors from Ghatlodia, Vejalpur, Naranpura and Sabarmati Assembly segments.
The Union Minister is on a two-day visit to Gujarat and will continue programmes in Gandhinagar on Sunday. He will likely inaugurate a fully automated milk processing and packaging facility of Madhur Dairy at Dashela village in Gandhinagar district.
The project cost Rs 128 crore to complete. The facility currently processes 2.5 lakh litres of milk per day. The plant can later expand its capacity to five lakh litres daily.
Officials said the project is likely to strengthen procurement and benefit dairy farmers linked to the cooperative network.
