Mumbai Indians elected to bowl after winning the toss against Lucknow Super Giants in Match 47 of IPL 2026 at Wankhede Stadium, with skipper Hardik Pandya unavailable due to a back issue.
Suryakumar Yadav assumed captaincy duties in Pandya’s absence and confirmed that the side had made a few changes following their recent loss to Chennai Super Kings. He stepped in to guide the team during a challenging phase.
The team management reshaped the playing XI by bringing in Corbin Bosch as a replacement for Trent Boult. Rohit Sharma returned from injury and featured in the Impact Bench, adding depth to the squad.
At the toss, Suryakumar observed that the pitch looked favourable for bowling first and mentioned the humid conditions. He stressed the need for confidence and encouraged the team to focus on playing positive cricket.
Lucknow Super Giants also modified their line-up for the match. The team introduced Josh Inglis for his debut and included Akshat Raghuwanshi in place of Mukul Choudhary. The changes aimed to strengthen the squad after recent setbacks.
Captain Rishabh Pant stated that the team used the short break to reset mentally and intended to return with improved focus. He highlighted the importance of regaining rhythm in the tournament.
Both the Mumbai Indians and Lucknow Super Giants entered the fixture looking to overcome poor form. MI had suffered four defeats in their last five outings, while LSG were also struggling after a series of losses.
