On Monday, Prime Minister Narendra Modi underscored the role of selfless service in nation-building, stating that acts done for the benefit of others strengthen both society and the collective spirit.
Taking to X, PM Modi posted, “The true strength of the nation lies in the selfless spirit of service of its citizens. This inspires people to motivate one another, while also enriching our society further. They provide shade while standing in the blazing sun themselves. Just as noble men, the trees bear fruit for the welfare of others too.”
The Prime Minister also referred to a Sanskrit verse comparing generous individuals to trees that endure hardship while offering shade and sustenance to others.

A day earlier, the Prime Minister visited the Matua Thakur Mandir in Thakurnagar, located in West Bengal’s North 24 Parganas district, ahead of a public meeting.
Reflecting on his earlier visit, PM Modi recalled receiving blessings from Matua community leader Binapani Devi, also known as ‘Boro Ma’.

Speaking at a rally in the region, the Prime Minister described his trip to Orakandi as emotionally significant, mentioning his participation in prayers and interactions with members of the Matua community. He said the warmth and compassion shown during those visits left a lasting impression on him.
The Prime Minister also spoke about the implementation of the Citizenship (Amendment) Act, 2019, noting that it seeks to grant citizenship to communities, including the Matuas.
Referring to Syama Prasad Mookerjee, PM Modi highlighted historical efforts to support refugees from East Bengal and said addressing their concerns remains an important responsibility.
The Prime Minister stated that providing legal recognition and rights to such groups is part of a broader commitment to ensure inclusion and dignity, adding that these measures aim to give affected communities a stable future within India.
