In the 36th match of the Indian Premier League 2026, Sunrisers Hyderabad defeated Rajasthan Royals by five wickets on Saturday.
Chasing a challenging target of 229 at Sawai Mansingh Cricket Stadium, SRH reached 229/5 in 18.3 overs, registering their fifth win of the season.
SRH made a slow start as Travis Head was dismissed early for just 6 runs off 5 balls. Ishan Kishan and Abhishek Sharma quickly took charge of the innings. The pair built a crucial 132-run partnership for the second wicket in only 55 balls.
Abhishek scored 57 off 29 balls, striking 11 fours and one six, while Ishan delivered an impressive 74 off 31 balls, including 11 fours and three sixes.
After the departure of both set batters, Heinrich Klaasen and Nitish Kumar Reddy stabilised the innings. They added 53 runs for the fourth wicket in 31 balls.
Nitish scored 36 runs from 18 deliveries before getting out, while Klaasen contributed 29 runs off 24 balls. Salil Arora and Aniket Verma remained unbeaten and guided SRH to victory.
For Rajasthan, Jofra Archer and Brijesh Sharma claimed two wickets each, while Donovan Ferreira picked up one.
Earlier, Rajasthan Royals posted 220/6 in their allotted 20 overs. Yashasvi Jaiswal fell early for 10 runs, after which Dhruv Jurel and Vaibhav Sooryavanshi added 112 runs for the second wicket in 62 balls.
Jurel scored 51 off 35 balls, while Sooryavanshi produced a remarkable innings of 103 runs off 37 balls, bringing up his second IPL century in just 36 deliveries.
Riyan Parag managed 7 runs, while Ferreira added 33 off 16 balls. Shimron Hetmyer scored 11 before falling to Praful Hinge. Ravindra Jadeja and Archer remained unbeaten at the end.
For SRH, Eshan Malinga was the standout bowler with two wickets, while Hinge, Pat Cummins, and Nitish Kumar Reddy took one wicket each.
The Rajasthan Royals suffered their third loss of the season.
