The International Schools Sports Organisation successfully hosted the Gujarat Region Junior Swimming Championship at Adani International School in Ahmedabad, bringing together 140 young swimmers from leading international schools across the state.
The event highlighted the growing popularity of swimming at the grassroots level and reinforced ISSO’s commitment to developing structured sporting pathways for young athletes.
In the overall standings, Adani International School secured the championship title with 253 points.
The Riverside School finished as runners-up with 147 points, followed by Ahmedabad International School with 104 points. Other participants included Anand Niketan International School, GEMS Genesis International School, Navrachana International School, and Calorx Olive International School.
The competition featured events in the Under-9 and Under-11 categories, with participants demonstrating impressive skill, enthusiasm, and sportsmanship.
Such tournaments provide an important platform for early exposure, talent identification, and competitive growth in aquatic sports.
The championship featured Venikha Parekh as the Guest of Honour, who inspired participants by sharing insights from her journey.
Aakanksha Thapak highlighted growing enthusiasm for swimming and stressed nurturing talent with discipline and sportsmanship.
Several swimmers excelled, winning three gold medals each.
In Under-9, Kaveer Kapadia and Aaren Gandhi led the boys, while Meera Patel and Naina Bhagchandani topped the girls. In Under-11, Agastya Kabra, Anay Patel, Yohan Pandya, and Aariv Shah dominated the boys’ events, while Aarushi Shah and Shanaya Patel impressed in the girls’ category.
The championship reflected the rising standard of school-level sports in India and a strong future for competitive swimming.
