Prime Minister Narendra Modi held bilateral discussions with Austrian Chancellor Christian Stocker at Hyderabad House in New Delhi on Thursday, with both leaders focusing on enhancing cooperation in trade, investment, green technology and other key sectors.
Earlier in the day, Chancellor Stocker paid homage to Mahatma Gandhi at Rajghat, paying tribute to his enduring ideals of peace, non-violence and global harmony.
Stocker, who arrived in New Delhi on Wednesday, is on his first official visit to India, aimed at strengthening bilateral ties across areas such as trade, investment and emerging technologies.
On Wednesday, External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar met the Austrian leader and expressed optimism that his talks with PM Modi would open new avenues for cooperation between the two nations.

During his remarks, Stocker highlighted India’s strong economic growth and its rising importance as the European Union’s key trading partner in South Asia. He said Austria sees strong potential to expand cooperation with India, particularly in infrastructure, technology and innovation-driven sectors.
Stocker also stressed the importance of stable partnerships amid global uncertainty, noting that the visit aims to boost opportunities for Austrian firms through closer collaboration and better market access.
This is Stocker’s first visit to India and his first official trip to Asia since taking office in 2025, accompanied by a high-level delegation of ministers and business leaders.
Both countries will deepen cooperation in advanced manufacturing, digital innovation and renewable energy, and will also discuss key global issues.
India and Austria share longstanding ties, and the visit will further strengthen their bilateral partnership.
