Bharat Express News Network CMD Upendrra Rai will attend the grand inaugural session of ICAN8 (International Media Conference) as the Chief Guest. The event will take place at Delhi Metropolitan Education (DME) on April 16, 2026.

The programme will begin at 10:00 AM at the Nelson Mandela Auditorium. It will bring together renowned journalists, academicians, and media experts from India and abroad.

The event will feature eminent Guests of Honour. These include Prof Dr Surbhi Dahiya from IIMC, Prof Dr Kulveen Trehan from GGSIPU, Shishir Sinha, Associate Editor at The Hindu Business Line, and Prof Dr Ambrish Saxena from South Asian University, who will likely contribute valuable insights.

The event is likely to commence at 9:30 AM, followed by the formal welcome of guests at 10:00 AM. The inaugural ceremony will also include the lighting of the ceremonial lamp and a presentation showcasing DME’s initiatives and achievements.

During the session, Head of DME Media School Prof Dr Parul Mehra, Director Prof Dr Komal Vig, and Director General Justice Bhanwar Singh will address the audience.

At approximately 10:20 AM, organisers will hold a felicitation ceremony to honour the guests, followed by addresses from the Guests of Honour.

The session will also feature video messages from international experts based in the United States and Nigeria. This will highlight the global scope of the conference.

The highlight of the event will be the keynote address by CMD Upendrra Rai at 11:35 AM. This will be followed by the release of the ICAN 7 book and the ICAN 8 proceedings. Additionally, the ‘Journalism@DME’ newsletter will be launched.

The inaugural session will conclude with the announcement of the day’s schedule, including a masterclass at 12:30 PM and technical sessions beginning at 1:30 PM. The programme will end with a vote of thanks by Dr Yamini Khullar.

The ICAN8 conference is a significant initiative that aims to strengthen engagement between media education, research, and the industry. It also encourages collaboration and innovation in journalism.
