Prime Minister Narendra Modi received a rousing welcome as he held a roadshow along the Wildlife Corridor in Saharanpur ahead of the inauguration of the Delhi-Dehradun Economic Corridor.
Thousands of supporters gathered along the route, waving the Tricolour and chanting slogans such as ‘Modi, Modi’, ‘Bharat Mata Ki Jai’, and ‘Jai Shri Ram’ as the Prime Minister greeted them warmly.
The atmosphere turned festive as crowds showered flowers on him while he acknowledged their greetings.
Many participants wore traditional attire and performed folk dances, turning the roadshow into a vibrant cultural celebration.
The large turnout reflected strong public interest in the upcoming infrastructure project.
Later, PM Modi will perform darshan and pooja at the Jai Maa Daat Kali Temple as part of his wider programme combining spiritual and developmental engagements. He will then inaugurate the 213-kilometre, six-lane Delhi-Dehradun Economic Corridor at a public event in Dehradun and address a large gathering.
The project has cost over ₹12,000 crore and connects Delhi, Uttar Pradesh, and Uttarakhand.
The corridor reduces travel time between Delhi and Dehradun from over six hours to about two and a half hours, improving regional connectivity and mobility. It includes 10 interchanges, three Railway Over Bridges, four major bridges, and 12 wayside amenities to ensure smooth travel.
The project includes an Advanced Traffic Management System for safer and smoother travel. It also features wildlife-friendly infrastructure such as a 12-kilometre elevated corridor, animal passes, elephant underpasses, and a tunnel near the Daat Kali temple to reduce ecological impact.
Officials said the corridor will boost trade, tourism, and jobs, reflecting PM Narendra Modi’s vision for modern, safe, and sustainable infrastructure.
