The Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) has cautioned that any misstep by opposing forces in the Strait of Hormuz would trigger severe consequences, intensifying an already fragile situation in the region.
In a statement shared online, the IRGC Navy claimed it is closely monitoring all activity in the vital shipping corridor, asserting full control over movements in the strait. The warning was accompanied by drone footage, which it said reflected the current security conditions.
The remarks follow claims by US Central Command that American naval vessels had recently passed through the strait and begun mine-clearing operations in nearby waters.
Iranian authorities rejected this version, with the Khatam al-Anbiya Central Headquarters denying that US ships had entered the area.
Iranian state media further dismissed the US account, reporting that two destroyers, the USS Michael Murphy and USS Frank E Peterson, were forced to withdraw after encountering Iranian naval forces.
The IRGC also said any foreign military vessel attempting to approach the strait under any justification would breach the ongoing ceasefire, and the IRGC would respond firmly.
Tensions between Iran and the United States have remained high following the recent conflict.
Earlier strikes involving US and Israeli forces targeted multiple Iranian locations, prompting retaliatory missile and drone attacks by Tehran against regional assets linked to Washington and Israel.
Although a temporary ceasefire has been in place, recent talks between the two sides failed to produce a breakthrough, leaving the situation around the Strait of Hormuz uncertain and closely watched.
