The India Meteorological Department (IMD) on Wednesday issued a yellow alert for Delhi, warning of rainfall, thunderstorms, and strong winds as an active western disturbance moves across North and Northwest India.
Several states, including Uttar Pradesh and Bihar, will receive moderate showers, with winds reaching up to 85 kmph in some areas.
The disturbance is also impacting hilly regions. Districts in Jammu and Kashmir and Himachal Pradesh face potential risks of landslides and avalanches as heavy rainfall and strong winds affect the terrain.
Minimum temperatures may drop by 2 to 3 degrees Celsius, bringing cooler mornings and evenings across the affected regions.
Delhi-NCR will experience cloudy skies, gusty winds, and intermittent rainfall, with one or two spells of thunderstorms likely during the day.
The national capital will record a minimum temperature of around 16 degrees Celsius, with the maximum reaching up to 27 degrees Celsius.
Looking ahead, Delhi is likely to see partly cloudy skies on Thursday, with conditions improving gradually from April 10 to 11.
Clearer skies and rising temperatures are expected, with maximums climbing to 33–34 degrees Celsius.
In Uttarakhand, districts including Dehradun, Nainital, Chamoli, and Pithoragarh may witness light to moderate rainfall with winds up to 60 kmph.
The IMD forecasts moderate to heavy rainfall in Himachal Pradesh districts, including Shimla, Kullu, Mandi, Kangra, and Kinnaur, from April 8 to 10, as the western disturbance continues to affect the region.
Authorities urge residents, especially in hilly areas, to stay cautious and follow weather updates closely.
