The premises of the Delhi Secretariat echoed with the sound of traditional shehnai music on Monday as members of Anjuman Sair-e-Gul Faroshan greeted Delhi Chief Minister Rekha Gupta during the ‘Phool Walon Ki Sair’ celebrations.
As part of the ceremony, festival organisers honoured the Chief Minister by presenting a traditional floral fan, a symbolic gesture linked to the historic event. Several prominent figures attended the programme, including Delhi Cabinet Minister Kapil Mishra.
Addressing the gathering, the Chief Minister described the festival as a reflection of Delhi’s rich cultural legacy and its unique Ganga-Jamuni culture.
“It serves as a reminder that unity and brotherhood have always remained central to India’s diverse cultural fabric,” she stated.
Gupta also noted that ‘Phool Walon Ki Sair’ represents more than a festive occasion, calling it a powerful example of the shared traditions and harmony that define the capital.
The Chief Minister emphasised that the Delhi government remains committed to safeguarding and promoting the city’s historic traditions and cultural festivals. She added that such events help younger generations understand their cultural heritage while strengthening respect and social harmony in society.
Minister Kapil Mishra underlined the importance of the festival in maintaining Delhi’s collective cultural heritage. He said ‘Phool Walon Ki Sair’ carries a message of harmony, unity and brotherhood.
He added that the celebration also allows the younger generation to learn about and experience the city’s vibrant cultural traditions.
This year’s Phool Walon Ki Sair 2026 is scheduled from March 15 to March 21. Throughout the week, several cultural, religious and social events will take place at different venues across the city.
