Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Monday called on academic institutions to transform their campuses into centres of industry collaboration and research-driven learning. He said such initiatives would provide students with essential real-world exposure.
Speaking during a post-Budget webinar held virtually, the Prime Minister discussed the integration of education, employment and enterprise while highlighting the growth potential of the Animation, Visual Effects, Gaming, and Comics (AVGC) sector.
Emphasising the country’s economic direction, PM Modi said India is steadily moving towards an innovation-driven economy.
“I would urge you that in this webinar, there must be a brainstorm on developing your campuses as centres of industry collaboration and research-driven learning”.
He also stressed the need for stronger synergy between institutions, industry and academia to accelerate national progress.
“With such efforts, the foundation of a Developed India will be further strengthened,” said PM Modi.
The Prime Minister highlighted continuous efforts to connect education with employment and entrepreneurship.
He said the New Education Policy provides the foundation for a curriculum aligned with market demands and the real-world economy. It focuses particularly on fields such as artificial intelligence, automation and the digital economy.
“We will have to accelerate the process of linking our education system with the real-world economy,” PM Modi noted.
PM Modi praised the evolving mindset of India’s youth, describing it as one of the country’s greatest strengths. He said the education system must evolve to match this spirit of innovation and ambition among young people.
The Prime Minister also expressed pride in the growing number of women participating in STEM fields. He reiterated the commitment to ensuring equal opportunities for daughters in futuristic technologies.
PM Modi called for a stronger research ecosystem, saying young innovators should have the freedom to experiment.
“We have to create such a research ecosystem where young researchers get a full opportunity to experiment and work on new ideas,” PM Modi concluded.
