On Sunday, Philanthropist and chairperson of the Reliance Foundation, Nita Ambani, introduced HERoes, a new movement intended to uplift women and motivate them to recognise their inner strength.
The announcement, however, coincided with the celebration of International Women’s Day 2026.
The Reliance Foundation introduced the campaign through a message shared on social media.

The post emphasised Ambani’s sustained focus on advancing opportunities for women through initiatives spanning education, healthcare, sports development, rural progress, and the promotion of art and culture.
The message noted that Nita Ambani has consistently expressed confidence in women’s ability to shape a stronger and more inclusive society.
Through her work in multiple sectors, the statement added, she has continued to motivate women to believe in their abilities and pursue their aspirations without limits.
The foundation stated that the HERoes campaign aims to offer encouragement and a supportive platform for women. It further urges them to acknowledge their potential for leadership and personal strength.
Its launch, however, reflects the broader purpose of International Women’s Day, observed around the world every year on 8 March.
The 2026 observance of International Women’s Day marks 115 years since the first international commemoration in 1911.
The occasion recognises women’s achievements across social, economic, cultural and political spheres. It also highlights ongoing concerns such as gender discrimination, inequality and violence.
The global theme for 2026, announced by UN Women, is ‘Rights. Justice. Action. For ALL Women and Girls’.
During the launch, Nita Ambani also drew attention to traditional Indian craftsmanship through her attire. She chose a finely woven Banarasi saree created under the Swadesh Initiative by Reliance Foundation, designed with subtle pastel tones and gentle floral patterns.
The saree was matched with an intricately hand-embroidered blouse by renowned designer Anamika Khanna, featuring detailed embroidery along the sleeves.
She completed the ensemble with large circular diamond earrings, a slim bracelet and a red bindi. Soft, glowing makeup along with loose, flowing hair added a refined finish to the overall look.
