Iran’s Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) said it launched a missile strike on a refinery in Haifa, Israel, on Saturday night. The attack was described as retaliation for a joint US-Israeli strike on Iran’s energy infrastructure.
In a statement released through its official outlet Sepah News, the IRGC said the refinery was targeted using Kheibarshekan missiles.
The National Iranian Oil Refining and Distribution Company reported that several energy facilities inside Iran were also targeted during the same night.
According to the company, a number of oil depots in the provinces of Tehran and Alborz were struck by missiles and caught fire. Firefighting teams were deployed to control the flames.
Tehran also faced a new wave of heavy attacks on Saturday night, with large explosions reported in different parts of the capital.
Escalation After February Attacks
The latest developments come after a major escalation on February 28, when Israel and the United States carried out joint strikes on Tehran and several other Iranian cities.
The attacks killed Iran’s Supreme Leader Ali Khamenei along with several others, including members of his family, senior military commanders, and civilians. Iran responded with multiple waves of missile and drone attacks targeting Israel and US military bases across the Middle East.
Commenting on the situation, Ali Larijani, Secretary of Iran’s Supreme National Security Council, said the United States and Israel are attempting to disintegrate and divide Iran.
He urged US President Donald Trump to acknowledge that he had made a mistake and had been misled by Israel. Larijani also said that the attacks had deeply affected the Iranian people and that Iran would not forget the actions taken against it.
In a separate development, Iran’s Foreign Minister Seyed Abbas Araghchi said he remains in constant contact with Saudi Arabia’s Foreign Minister Faisal bin Farhan Al Saud.
In an interview published Saturday by Independent Arabia, Araghchi said Saudi officials had assured Iran that their territory, airspace, and waters would not be used for any attacks against Iran.
