Industrialist Mukesh Ambani and his son Anant Ambani warmly welcomed Finland’s President Alexander Stubb at their residence in Mumbai. The meeting took place in a cordial atmosphere, with discussions focused on friendship, idea exchange, and strengthening ties between India and Finland through shared values and cooperation.
Earlier, Prime Minister Narendra Modi met President Stubb at Hyderabad House in New Delhi on Thursday for a bilateral meeting. The two leaders discussed multiple aspects of strengthening India-Finland relations. Several Memorandums of Understanding (MoUs) were also signed during the meeting to enhance cooperation between the two countries.
President Stubb is currently visiting India as the chief guest at this year’s Raisina Dialogue. During the visit, he also met Prime Minister Modi and President Droupadi Murmu.
After the meeting with President Stubb, Prime Minister Modi said that the growing partnership between India and Finland will give new direction to trade, investment, and technological collaboration. Welcoming Stubb on his first official visit to India, PM Modi noted that his participation as the chief guest at the Raisina Dialogue was a matter of pride and honor for India.
The Prime Minister also highlighted that many regions of the world—from Ukraine to West Asia—are currently facing conflict. In such a situation, relations between India and Europe are entering a new and positive phase.
Expanding Cooperation Across Key Sectors
PM Modi said the growing cooperation between the two countries is taking development and shared prosperity to new heights. He noted that the historic Free Trade Agreement (FTA) concluded at the beginning of 2026 will further strengthen trade, investment, and technological collaboration between India and Finland.
He added that the two nations are important partners in areas such as digital technology, infrastructure, and sustainability. Finland’s Nokia mobile phones and telecom networks have played a significant role in connecting millions of Indians.
With the support of Finnish experts, the world’s highest railway bridge over the Chenab River has been constructed. Additionally, the world’s largest Assam Bio Ethanol Private Limited (ABEPL) refinery has been established in Numaligarh, Assam, with Finnish collaboration.
Toward A Strategic Partnership
Prime Minister Modi said that during President Stubb’s visit, India and Finland are advancing their relationship toward a strategic partnership with special emphasis on digitalisation and sustainability. He added that the partnership will accelerate cooperation in high-tech sectors such as AI, 6G telecom, clean energy, and quantum computing.
He also stressed the need for reforms in international institutions to address growing global challenges and reiterated that both countries share a commitment to eliminating terrorism in all forms.
PM Modi said India and Finland both believe in the rule of law, dialogue, and diplomacy. He emphasised that military conflict alone cannot provide a lasting solution to any problem and reiterated India’s support for efforts aimed at establishing peace and resolving conflicts in regions such as Ukraine and West Asia.
