Union Home Minister Amit Shah on Saturday addressed a large public gathering in Haridwar during the ‘Jan-Jan Ki Sarkar: Char Saal Bemisaal’ programme.
The event marked four years of governance under Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami and nine years of the Bharatiya Janata Party administration in Uttarakhand.
Speaking at the event, Shah said the programme celebrated the completion of four years of the Dhami government while also recognising nine years of BJP leadership in the hill state. He recalled that Prime Minister Narendra Modi recently visited Uttarakhand to launch celebrations marking 25 years of the state’s formation.
The Home Minister reflected on the historic struggle that led to the creation of Uttarakhand. He stated that the youth of the region once fought strongly for a separate identity and administrative recognition.
Shah also mentioned the tragic Rampur Tiraha incident, saying the sacrifices made during the movement remain deeply remembered by the people.
The Home Minister credited former Prime Minister Atal Bihari Vajpayee for establishing Uttarakhand as a separate state. He noted that when smaller states came into existence, several critics questioned whether they could survive economically.
However, he added that Uttarakhand, along with Jharkhand and Chhattisgarh, has since advanced steadily on the path of development.
The Home Minister announced that development projects worth ₹1,132 crore have been initiated in Uttarakhand. He emphasised that governance reforms and infrastructure initiatives have improved public services across the state.
Shah also highlighted the implementation of new criminal legislation, particularly the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita. He said the reforms aim to accelerate the justice delivery system.
Amit Shah said the government expects to complete legal procedures, from police complaints to hearings in the Supreme Court, within three years. He added that the reforms will achieve this target once authorities fully implement them by 2028.
The Minister further praised employment initiatives undertaken by the state government.
Home Minister Amit Shah said that around 1,900 young people have been recruited as police constables. He emphasised that the anti-cheating law introduced by the Pushkar Singh Dhami administration has made the recruitment process more transparent.
Amit Shah also referred to citizenship provisions for persecuted minorities from neighbouring countries such as Pakistan, Bangladesh and Afghanistan. He said the government intends to grant them rightful protection.
HM Amit Shah highlighted the growing political momentum of the BJP-led National Democratic Alliance. He expressed confidence about future electoral victories and urged voters to support the party in the 2027 Uttarakhand Legislative Assembly election 2027.
