Adani Electricity and the Adani Foundation commemorated ‘Marathi Bhasha Gaurav Din’ and the birth anniversary of eminent poet Kusumagraj by transforming BMC schools into vibrant hubs of Maharashtrian heritage.
The celebration unfolded under the CSR-led ‘Project Utthan’ initiative. The programme blended scholastic development with cultural immersion.
Students enhanced their vocabulary through interactive word games. They also participated in spirited performances, including Powada, Abhang and the traditional tribal Tarpa dance.
Organisers concluded the event with a collective recitation of the Pasaydaan, reinforcing linguistic pride and cultural continuity.
‘Project Utthan’ serves as the flagship education initiative of the Adani Foundation. It further aligns with the National Education Policy (NEP) 2020.
The programme, however, concentrates on improving foundational literacy, numeracy and essential life skills in government primary schools.
The initiative fosters classrooms where children feel secure and motivated. It further prioritises early-grade learners to ensure strong academic grounding.
In Mumbai, the Adani Foundation and Adani Electricity have partnered with the BMC Education Department to implement Utthan across all BMC primary schools.
The project places particular focus on Priya Vidyarthis, or progressive learners. It delivers structured academic support and joyful learning modules. This approach enables steady intellectual and personal growth.
More than 300 trained women, Utthan Sahayaks, anchor the programme. Recruited from local communities, they assist teachers in classrooms. They address learning gaps by engaging consistently with parents.
Adani Foundation documents student progress. They also cultivate trust within neighbourhoods.
The intervention has, however, reshaped school culture. Attendance in Utthan schools reached 99 per cent, compared with 56.2 per cent in non-Utthan institutions.
Students displayed higher engagement levels, stronger classroom participation and greater confidence in communication and leadership.
With these outcomes, the initiative aims to help Mumbai secure improved performance in the National Achievement Survey (NAS) by 2028. It seeks to contribute substantively to advancements in foundational learning standards.
Nationally, Project Utthan operates across five states. It supports more than 1,200 government schools and benefits nearly 1.80 lakh students, reinforcing its scale and strategic impact in the education sector.
