Indian equity benchmarks extended their rally for a second consecutive session on Monday. Investors accumulated public sector bank and healthcare counters. Encouraging global signals strengthened market confidence.

Sentiment improved after the US Supreme Court ruled against reciprocal tariffs proposed by US President Donald Trump.

The decision eased immediate concerns over aggressive trade measures. Traders responded with measured optimism.

The Nifty 50 climbed 0.55 per cent, adding 141.75 points to close at 25,713. The BSE Sensex advanced 0.58 per cent, or 479.95 points, to settle at 83,294.66.

Technical analysts identified 25,800 as immediate resistance for Nifty. They flagged 25,900 as the next hurdle, citing notable open interest build-up.

On the downside, 25,500 remains a critical support level.

Among Sensex constituents, Adani Ports and Special Economic Zone led advances with a 2.82 per cent surge.

Other prominent gainers included Kotak Mahindra Bank, UltraTech Cement, Power Grid Corporation of India, Axis Bank and HDFC Bank.

Sectoral Trends Mixed

Technology counters faced selling pressure. Infosys, Tech Mahindra and HCL Technologies featured among key laggards. Trent, Bajaj Finserv and ITC Limited also declined.

Broader indices reflected mixed momentum. The Nifty MidCap 100 slipped 0.43 per cent. Conversely, the NSE SmallCap 100 edged 0.29 per cent higher.

Sectorally, the Nifty PSU Bank Index outperformed with a 1.36 per cent gain.

The Nifty MidSmall Healthcare Index rose 1.03 per cent. In contrast, the Nifty IT Index posted the steepest decline, followed by the Nifty Chemicals Index.

Market strategists cautioned that trade frictions remain a risk.

Tariff uncertainties could pressure export-oriented segments such as textiles, pharmaceuticals, gems and jewellery, and machinery.

Despite external headwinds, domestic benchmarks closed firmly in positive territory.

Banking and healthcare strengths underpinned the advance. Investors, however, continue to monitor global trade signals closely.
