Prime Minister Narendra Modi met his Kazakh counterpart, Olzhas Bektenov, on Wednesday at the India-AI Impact Summit in New Delhi. The leaders reviewed bilateral cooperation across political, economic and strategic domains.

They identified fresh opportunities in trade, energy, critical minerals and rare earths. They also discussed defence, connectivity and space collaboration.

PM Modi welcomed Prime Minister Bektenov’s participation at the summit. He said the visit underlined both countries’ intent to harness technology for social benefit and economic growth.

After the meeting, Prime Minister Modi posted on X that the discussions will deepen the India-Kazakhstan strategic partnership and lift ties to new heights.

The two leaders examined emerging technology cooperation. They agreed on the need to align research and talent exchange in artificial intelligence.

They emphasised responsible deployment and joint projects that yield inclusive outcomes.

Expanding Strategic Cooperation Agenda

Separately, Kazakhstan’s Ambassador Azamat Yeskarayev held talks with senior Ministry officials led by Bina George.

The diplomat briefed the Indian side on major political and institutional reforms underway in Kazakhstan.

He detailed constitutional adjustments designed to rebalance powers, limit presidential authority and empower Parliament and local representative bodies.

Ambassador Yeskarayev highlighted measures to bolster judicial independence and protect human rights.

He noted the new Vice-President’s office as a step to improve governance stability and effectiveness.

He said these reforms aim to enhance transparency, accountability and international standing.

The two sides also exchanged views on consular matters. They discussed protecting citizens’ rights and agreed to explore practical cooperation. India signalled readiness to consider formal consular consultations to streamline processes.

Both capitals expressed optimism about expanding cooperation. They agreed to pursue concrete projects across energy, critical minerals, connectivity and defence.

The talks reinforced a shared commitment to deepen strategic ties and to translate high-level dialogue into practical outcomes.
