The Press Information Bureau’s Fact Check unit has dismissed as false a viral YouTube video claiming the launch of a central government ‘Unemployment Allowance Scheme 2026’.
The misleading content, circulated by a channel named Buddhsen92TechOfficial, alleged that unemployed youth would receive a monthly allowance of ₹2,500 under a nationwide programme.
PIB Fact Check clarified that no such scheme exists at the national level. It stated clearly that the Government of India has not announced any unemployment allowance under the claimed title.
In a post on X, PIB Fact Check said the claim was fake and cautioned citizens against falling for misleading videos and links circulating online.
#PIBFactCheck

The government does not offer monthly cash transfers to unemployed youth through such a scheme.
Authorities described the video as entirely fabricated and intended to mislead viewers.
The fact-checking agency, however, warned that such false claims often aim to exploit vulnerable job seekers.
Fraudsters often create videos and posts that closely resemble official government announcements.
They use this tactic to gain credibility and steal personal or financial information from unsuspecting users.
While rejecting the viral claim, PIB Fact Check acknowledged that certain Indian states operate their own unemployment assistance initiatives.
States such as Chhattisgarh provide allowances of up to ₹2,500 per month to eligible educated youth under state-administered welfare schemes.
Officials noted that scammers often misuse the existence of genuine state programmes to create the illusion of a similar central initiative.
The agency cautioned citizens to remain alert to phishing links and fake application portals.
Such links often promise quick registration or guaranteed payments while seeking sensitive details such as bank information, Aadhaar numbers, or OTPs.
PIB Fact Check, however, urged users not to click on unverified links shared on social media platforms or video descriptions.
To help citizens access authentic information, PIB directed job seekers to rely only on official government channels. It advised youth to visit the National Career Service (NCS) portal for verified employment-related schemes.
The platform also provides authentic job listings and government-supported skill development programmes.
Officials emphasised that the NCS platform remains the government’s authorised digital interface for employment services.
Any genuine scheme or financial assistance programme would be formally notified through official government websites or press releases.
PIB Fact Check reiterated the importance of verifying claims before sharing them online. It encouraged citizens to cross-check suspicious content through its official channels to curb the spread of misinformation and prevent financial fraud.
The agency further concluded that public vigilance remains critical as digital misinformation grows more sophisticated.
Citizens can protect themselves from deceptive schemes by relying on verified sources and official portals. This also helps ensure access to legitimate government services.
