The Fit India movement gained fresh momentum on Sunday, as the 57th Sunday on Cycle mobilised citizens nationwide for fitness and sustainability. Union Minister Mansukh Mandaviya led the Gondal event, while G Kishan Reddy headed the Hyderabad leg.
More than 1,000 cyclists participated in Hyderabad alone, underlining the initiative’s expanding footprint.
Launched in December 2024, Sundays on Cycle has quickly transformed into a mass movement. It has mobilised communities at over two lakh locations and engaged more than 22 lakh participants nationwide.
In Gondal, nearly 250 cyclists joined the ride, reflecting strong grassroots enthusiasm.
Mandaviya urged citizens to make cycling a habit, posting on social media that participation remains key to building a fit India.
During interactions, participants shared how cycling strengthened social bonds. Hiten Patel, a 48-year-old businessman, said group cycling energised him and helped balance demanding routines.
Addressing the gathering, Mandaviya highlighted cycling’s inclusive nature and environmental value. He said cycling suits all age groups, improves health, cuts carbon emissions, and fosters community spirit.
Mandaviya linked physical fitness directly to the national goal of Viksit Bharat. He further stressed that a strong nation depends on healthy citizens.
Mansukh Mandaviya added that Prime Minister Narendra Modi envisions a population that stays physically and mentally fit to actively contribute to national development.
The Hyderabad event at Gachibowli Stadium drew top sports figures, including Pullela Gopichand, Esha Singh, and Paralympic medallist Deepthi Jeevanji.
Organisers honoured athletes, Fit India Ambassadors, and cycling leaders for promoting fitness awareness.
G Kishan Reddy said modern lifestyles demand a conscious return to physical activity. He echoed the Prime Minister’s call to fight obesity, lifestyle disorders, and mental stress through daily movement.
Reddy further noted that technological convenience has reduced physical labour, making intentional exercise essential.
Gopichand praised the initiative’s scale and consistency. He said sustaining a 57-week nationwide campaign showcased leadership commitment and sport’s power to drive national growth.
The Hyderabad edition featured yoga, Zumba, rope skipping, Kudo martial arts, and Mallakhamb, turning the venue into a vibrant fitness festival.
Launched in 2019, the Fit India Movement seeks lasting behavioural change. Sundays on Cycle continues to advance that mission while reinforcing the message: Fitness Ki Dose, Aadha Ghanta Roz.
