Samsung Electronics has introduced the Galaxy Z TriFold, a groundbreaking device that marks the company’s first entry into the triple-folding smartphone segment.
Revealed on Tuesday, the TriFold unfolds twice to reveal a large 10-inch interior display, reinforcing Samsung’s leadership in innovative design for the AI-driven mobile era.
Samsung said the new device builds on more than ten years of expertise in the foldable category.
TM Roh, CEO and Head of the Device eXperience Division, emphasised that the company continues to redefine possibilities in mobile engineering.
He noted that the Galaxy Z TriFold addresses one of the industry’s long-standing challenges: creating a single device that balances portability, high performance, and productivity.
Designed with insights from users’ real-world habits, the TriFold introduces a sophisticated multi-folding mechanism.
The inward-folding structure protects the main display, and the auto-alert feature notifies users if they fold the phone incorrectly, ensuring greater durability and safety.
Slim, Powerful, and Engineered for Durability
Despite its advanced folding design, the Galaxy Z TriFold maintains an exceptionally slim profile, measuring just 3.9 mm at its thinnest point.
It is powered by the customised Snapdragon 8 Elite Mobile Platform for Galaxy, offering top-tier performance optimised for AI tasks and multitasking.
The device features a 200 MP camera system and houses Samsung’s largest battery in a foldable phone: a 5,600 mAh three-cell unit distributed across its panels, ensuring extended use without added bulk.
Samsung said significant engineering improvements were made to keep the phone both slim and robust.
The updated Armour FlexHinge features two differently sized hinges that enable smoother folding with enhanced durability.
The 10-inch folding display includes a reinforced shock-absorbing layer, and the exterior incorporates titanium hinge housing and high-strength aluminium for additional protection.
Each Galaxy Z TriFold undergoes extensive quality checks, including CT and laser scanning, to ensure precision and structural integrity.
When fully expanded, the TriFold’s 10-inch display functions like three 6.5-inch smartphone screens combined.
This configuration allows users to run up to three apps side-by-side, transforming the device into a productivity-focused workstation.
Samsung has optimised apps such as Samsung Health and My Files for the larger screen.
A taskbar enables quick switching between recently used apps, offering a desktop-like experience on a mobile device.
