Women voters and welfare schemes drive Nitish Kumar’s strong lead as the NDA heads for victory.

Nitish Kumar Set For Historic 10th Term As Women Voters & Job Schemes Power NDA Surge

Nitish Kumar looks ready to script history in the 2025 Bihar Assembly elections as early trends show the National Democratic Alliance (NDA) racing past the majority mark.

The alliance’s strong performance places Nitish on course to secure a record tenth term as Chief Minister, fueled largely by unprecedented support from women voters and targeted welfare schemes.

Women voters played the most decisive role in this surge. Women voters recorded a historic 71.6% turnout.

Their participation stood at 71.6%, far higher than the 62.8% turnout among men.

Their overwhelming participation gave the NDA a clear electoral edge and shifted the momentum firmly in Nitish Kumar’s favour.

The state government’s flagship employment initiative strengthened this support base.

Historic Term Nears

The scheme transferred ₹10,000 to millions of women and provided self-employment assistance under the ’10 Hazari Chabi’ program.

These direct benefits empowered rural and urban women alike and translated into solid pro-NDA voting patterns across districts.

Nitish Kumar projected strong personal credibility during the campaign. He reinforced his image through consistent messaging and welfare-focused outreach.

He countered anti-incumbency concerns and health-related speculation by emphasising consistent governance, social justice programs, and inclusive alliances.

His popularity among women, extremely backward castes (EBCs), and Mahadalits revived the JD(U)’s position and stabilised the NDA’s statewide performance.

Political analysts argue that Bihar is witnessing a major electoral shift. Women voters are responding more to tangible welfare and economic support. They are rejecting traditional caste-driven appeals.

This behavioural change is reshaping the state’s electoral chemistry and offering Nitish a renewed mandate.

The government’s assurances further boosted the NDA’s prospects. These commitments strengthened voter confidence and expanded the alliance’s support base.

The promise of over 53,000 permanent jobs for women and the continuation of 35% reservation for them in government services added momentum to the ruling alliance’s campaign.

Counting began at 8 AM with postal ballots and moved to Electronic Voting Machines (EVMs).

As numbers firm up, opposition alliances like the Mahagathbandhan are confronting serious setbacks even in their long-held strongholds.

Nitish Kumar’s march toward a historic tenth term now depends on maintaining the NDA’s expanding lead and smoothly converting it into a stable governing majority.

His ability to align coalition partners and sustain policy continuity will shape Bihar’s political trajectory and governance priorities for the next five years.
