A wave of grief and condemnation swept across India after a powerful car explosion near Delhi’s Red Fort Metro Station on Monday evening claimed ten lives and injured several others.

The blast occurred near Gate No 1 and triggered panic in Old Delhi. It set nearby vehicles ablaze and left a trail of destruction.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi spoke with Home Minister Amit Shah, who confirmed that the National Investigation Agency (NIA) and forensic teams are probing the incident from every possible angle. Delhi Police Commissioner Satish Golcha said authorities immediately dispatched seven fire tenders and sealed off the area for investigation.

Yogi Adityanath and National Leaders Express Solidarity

Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath was among the first to react, calling the loss of life ‘deeply saddening’. He extended condolences to the bereaved families and prayed for the injured, invoking Lord Shri Ram for strength and peace.

Defence Minister Rajnath Singh termed the incident ‘extremely painful and disturbing’.

BJP President JP Nadda urged that all medical assistance reach the injured promptly.

Union Ministers Nitin Gadkari, Piyush Goyal, Jyotiraditya Scindia, and Sarbananda Sonowal also conveyed their condolences on X.

Opposition Voices Unite in Grief

Congress President Mallikarjun Kharge, RJD leader Tejashwi Yadav, and Tamil Nadu Chief Minister MK Stalin demanded a thorough and impartial probe. Kharge called the incident a ‘grave security lapse’, while Stalin described the visuals as ‘heartbreaking’.

AIMIM leader Asaduddin Owaisi and Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu joined in condemning the attack, expressing prayers for the victims’ families and hope that those responsible ‘face the strictest punishment’.

Security Heightened Nationwide

Following the blast, authorities have stepped up security across Delhi, Nagpur, Mumbai, and Uttar Pradesh. Notably, the explosion occurred just hours after J&K Police busted a transnational terror module in Faridabad, recovering 2,900 kg of explosives and weapons.

As investigations continue, the nation stands united in mourning and resolve against any attempt to disrupt peace and public safety.
