PM Modi To Join Madhya Pradesh’s Bhagwan Birsa Munda Jayanti Celebrations Virtually On November 15

Prime Minister Narendra Modi will join the state-level celebrations of Bhagwan Birsa Munda Jayanti virtually from Jabalpur on November 15, the Madhya Pradesh cabinet announced after its Monday meeting.

The celebrations, coinciding with Janjatiya Gaurav Diwas, aim to honour tribal heroes and recognise achievers from various sectors.

A parallel event will be held in Alirajpur, while district-level functions will take place across all 55 districts of Madhya Pradesh.

The government will also felicitate 1,100 tribal students who excelled in board examinations and 750 athletes who won national-level medals under state-supported sports programmes.

Deputy Chief Minister Jagdish Devda will preside over the Alirajpur event at the Birsa Munda Smriti Sthal, where a 51-foot statue of the revered tribal leader will be unveiled.

The cabinet has also directed all District Collectors to organise mini-marathons, folk games, and traditional dance performances to mark the occasion.

Cultural Festivities and Tribal Heritage

Madhya Pradesh Minister for MSMEs Chaitanya Kashyap said the event in Jabalpur would feature a vibrant cultural programme showcasing tribal art, music, and dance.

“The Prime Minister’s presence will inspire our youth. We are preparing a cultural extravaganza with several tribal artists,” he told reporters.

Moreover, rehearsals have already begun in Jabalpur, where Gond, Baiga, and Bharia artists are practising traditional war cries and dance sequences.

A 500-member women’s troupe will perform the Saila dance, symbolising unity and strength among tribal communities.

To strengthen awareness about tribal welfare schemes, the Madhya Pradesh government plans to launch a dedicated mobile app offering detailed information on state and central government initiatives for tribal development.

Schools will remain open for a half-day to allow students to view the Prime Minister’s address.

“Every child must know Birsa’s story,” said School Education Minister Rao Uday Pratap Singh, emphasising the importance of educating students about the legacy of the tribal leader who led the Ulgulan movement against British rule.

A Legacy of Pride and Progress

Social organisations will host blood donation camps and tree plantation drives as part of the day-long celebrations, reinforcing the spirit of service and sustainability.

Moreover, Public representatives will participate in block-level events to honour tribal achievers and community leaders.

Prime Minister Modi had earlier participated in the Janjatiya Gaurav Diwas in Bhopal in 2021, launching the Ration Aapke Dwar scheme and the Madhya Pradesh Sickle Cell Mission to improve tribal welfare.

As preparations gather pace, Minister Kashyap remarked, “November 15 will be a day of pride and service, celebrating the life and sacrifice of Bhagwan Birsa Munda and the strength of Madhya Pradesh’s tribal spirit.”
