Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma announced on Thursday that the long-awaited Guwahati-North Guwahati bridge will open to the public in January 2026.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi will dedicate this project to the nation.
Speaking at Srimanta Sankardeva Kalakshetra, CM Sarma also outlined a series of upcoming visits by Union Ministers to Assam.
He confirmed that PM Modi will visit the state twice in the coming months.
The Prime Minister will first arrive in December to inaugurate the new terminal at LGBI Airport, Guwahati.
He will also lay the foundation stone for the Namrup fertiliser plant.
PM Modi will return in January to open the Guwahati-North Guwahati bridge and attend a special event at IIM Guwahati. Authorities have not yet finalised the exact dates for these visits.
Union Home Minister Amit Shah will also visit Assam around late December or early January.
During his trip, he will inaugurate the Jyoti-Bishnu Auditorium, the Batadrava project, and participate in a Booth Sammelan.
Before that, Union Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman will arrive on November 8.
She will visit the semiconductor unit at Jagiroad and interact with 300 young entrepreneurs.
FM Sitharaman will also inaugurate the Gateway of the Guwahati river terminal and the Brahmaputra Riverfront at Uzan Bazar.
On the same day, she will perform the bhoomi pujan and lay the foundation stone for Swaheed Konkolata University in Gohpur.
The state has sanctioned Rs 500 crore for the university, which will be built on 771 bighas of land.
Construction will begin soon, following the completion of the tender process.
On November 9, Defence Minister Rajnath Singh will attend an air show at Lachit Ghat, Guwahati.
The show will feature advanced aircraft, including Rafale and Sukhoi fighter jets, marking the first display of its kind in Assam.
CM Sarma also shared updates on his own engagements, stating he attended 9 of 12 scheduled meetings in Bihar and will return to complete the remaining programmes.
