Celebrations Across the Nation
Guru Nanak Jayanti, also known as Guru Purab or Prakash Parv, is celebrated with immense devotion across India and worldwide.
The three-day festivities begin with Akhand Path, a continuous 48-hour recitation of the Guru Granth Sahib, further followed by a grand Nagar Kirtan procession led by the Panj Pyaras (the Five Beloved Ones).
On the main festival day, devotees assemble in Gurudwaras at dawn to sing Asa-di-Var, followed by devotional hymns and poetry recitations.
Later in the afternoon, community langars (meals) are prepared and shared, symbolising unity and equality.
The celebrations conclude with evening prayers and hymns, spreading messages of love, humility, and universal brotherhood.
Moreover, PM Modi’s message and nationwide celebrations underscored the universal appeal of Guru Nanak Dev Ji’s teachings, which transcend boundaries of faith and culture.
His timeless wisdom continues to guide generations towards compassion, equality, and the spirit of service — values that remain central to India’s diverse social fabric.
