Prime Minister Narendra Modi will visit Maharashtra from October 8 to 9, marking a significant milestone in India’s infrastructure and international diplomacy.
During his two-day visit, he will inaugurate the Navi Mumbai International Airport (NMIA), launch several projects in Mumbai, and host UK Prime Minister Sir Keir Starmer.
On October 8, PM Modi will conduct a walkthrough of the newly built NMIA at around 3 PM, followed by its inauguration at 3:30 PM. The Prime Minister will also launch and dedicate multiple development projects across Mumbai, addressing attendees on the occasion.
Developers built Phase 1 of NMIA, India’s largest Greenfield airport, under a Public–Private Partnership (PPP), at an estimated cost of Rs 19,650 crore.
As the second international airport for the Mumbai Metropolitan Region, NMIA will work alongside Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj International Airport (CSMIA) to reduce congestion and elevate Mumbai into a global multi-airport system.
The designers built the airport across 1,160 hectares to handle 90 million passengers and 3.25 million metric tonnes of cargo annually.
Unique features include an Automated People Mover (APM) for inter-terminal transfers, Sustainable Aviation Fuel (SAF) storage, 47 MW solar power generation, and EV bus services. NMIA will also be India’s first airport connected by Water Taxi services.

The fully underground metro line spans 33.5 km with 27 stations, catering to 13 lakh passengers daily. Phase 2B provides direct access to key administrative, cultural, and financial hubs, including Nariman Point, BSE, RBI, and Marine Drive.
Alongside, the Mumbai One App will be launched, integrating 11 public transport operators across Metro, Monorail, Suburban Railways, and Bus services.
The app offers digital ticketing, real-time updates, multimodal connectivity, and safety features, enhancing commuter convenience across Mumbai.
PM Modi will launch the Short-Term Employability Program (STEP) across 400 ITIs and 150 technical schools in Maharashtra, creating 2,500 new training batches, including emerging technologies such as AI, IoT, EV, and Solar.
