Tibetan spiritual leader His Holiness the Dalai Lama wrote to Prime Minister Narendra Modi on his 75th birthday from Dharamsala, offering warm greetings and wishing him continued good health.
The spiritual leader reflected on his longstanding relationship with India and praised the remarkable development witnessed over the years.
‘As India’s longest-staying guest’, the Dalai Lama wrote, “I have witnessed firsthand the far-reaching development and prosperity that have taken place over the years. I congratulate you on the growing confidence and strength that have occurred in recent times. India’s success also contributes to global development.”
The Dalai Lama expressed his pride in being a ‘proud messenger of India’ and spoke highly of India as the world’s largest democracy, renowned for its deeply rooted religious pluralism.
He highlighted India as an example of harmony and stability, which serves as an inspiration globally.
“For us Tibetans, India has not only been the source of our spiritual heritage but, for more than sixty-six years, has also been our physical home,” he wrote.
The spiritual leader extended sincere gratitude to the Government and people of India for their generous hospitality towards the Tibetan community.
Moreover, his Holiness concluded by offering prayers and good wishes for the Prime Minister’s health and well-being.
National Leaders Join in Birthday Tributes
The Prime Minister’s birthday has grown into a national celebration, with leaders across the political spectrum offering their tributes.
President of India Droupadi Murmu also extended warm greetings, applauding PM Modi’s extraordinary leadership that has transformed India’s journey towards progress.
In a message shared on social media, President Murmu wrote, “Heartfelt birthday greetings and best wishes to the Prime Minister of India, Shri @narendramodi ji. By exemplifying the pinnacle of hard work through your extraordinary leadership, you have instilled a culture of achieving great goals in the country. Today, the global community is also expressing its faith in your guidance. I pray to God that you remain forever healthy and joyful, and with your unique leadership, lead the nation to new heights of progress.”
