Rahul Gandhi Reaches Rae Bareli For Two-Day Constituency Visit

Rahul Gandhi, recently elected MP from Rae Bareli and the Leader of Opposition in the Lok Sabha, began a two-day visit to his parliamentary constituency on Wednesday.

This marks his first official visit to Rae Bareli since his electoral victory in April 2024.

Uttar Pradesh Congress President Ajay Rai, legislature party leader Aradhana Mishra, and senior party officials welcomed Rahul Gandhi upon his arrival in Lucknow earlier in the day. He then travelled to Rae Bareli by road.

Engagement with Party Cadres and Public

Congress leaders said the visit aims to energise the party’s grassroots network and strengthen ties with constituents.

“Our leader, Rahul Gandhi, is coming to meet his party workers and his Rae Bareli family,” Ajay Rai said ahead of the visit.

On the first day, Gandhi’s schedule included a meeting with booth-level presidents from the Harchandpur Assembly constituency at Batohi Resort in Didauli.

He also attended the Prajapati Mahasabha event near Pragatipuram Colony on the Lucknow-Prayagraj Highway, furthering his outreach among key community groups.

In a symbolic gesture honouring Indian heritage, Gandhi inaugurated a replica of Emperor Ashoka’s pillar at Gora Bazar in Rae Bareli.

He also took part in a sapling plantation drive at Amar Shaheed Veera Pasi Van Gram in Mulihamau village, promoting environmental awareness.

Later in the evening, he met booth-level workers from the Unchahar Assembly segment, continuing his effort to maintain a close connection with local party cadres.

Focus on Development and Governance

Day two of his visit will focus on governance and development. Rahul Gandhi is scheduled to meet residents and local leaders at NTPC Unchahar in the morning.

He will then chair the District Development Coordination and Monitoring Committee (DISHA) meeting at Bachat Bhawan to review the progress of key central schemes and development projects across Rae Bareli.

Meanwhile, Rahul Gandhi’s visit was met with political resistance.

Uttar Pradesh Minister of State (Independent Charge) Dinesh Pratap Singh staged a sit-in protest alongside BJP supporters, raising slogans against the Congress leader.

The protest highlighted ongoing political rivalries in the region as Gandhi looks to consolidate his constituency base.

Gandhi’s visit is part of a broader strategy to strengthen Congress’s presence in Uttar Pradesh, with Rae Bareli now a key stronghold after the party’s 2024 election gains.

His engagement with both the public and party machinery underlines the importance of sustained grassroots contact in shaping political momentum ahead of future electoral battles.
