
Congress leader Priyanka Gandhi Vadra met Union Health Minister JP Nadda to discuss the early implementation of health projects in her constituency and renewed the demand for starting AIIMS in Kerala.
Taking to X, she posted, “Met Shri. @JPNadda to request him to expedite some health projects in Wayanad and to apprise him of the severe difficulties being faced by the local population in the absence of the Medical College in Mananthavadi which is yet far from functional.”
The Wayanad MP and Congress leader Priyanka also said that she and party members discussed the need for better healthcare for Wayanad’s tribal population, their specific health issues, and pending NHM funds.
While talking about the need for a specialised trauma centre to address the cases of animal attacks in the area.
Furthermore, the MP from Wayanad added, “All of us also renewed the long standing request for an AIIMS for Kerala.”

Earlier, the then Wayanad MP Rahul Gandhi had also hit out at the state government for insufficient facilities at the hospital.
Rahul Gandhi met the family of a man killed in an elephant attack and criticised the delay in providing treatment, alleging it resulted in the victim’s death.
The Congress leader had questioned the delay in developing the medical college, criticising the lack of urgency shown by the state government despite loss of life in tragic incidents in the area due to a lack of medical facilities.
