Raksha Bandhan, one of India’s most cherished festivals, celebrates the bond between brothers and sisters.

Traditionally, sisters tie a rakhi on their brothers’ wrists as a symbol of love and prayer for their well-being. In return, brothers pledge to protect their sisters throughout their lives.

People increasingly celebrate the festival as a symbol of mutual respect, affection, and harmony beyond familial ties.

Warm Interactions & Shared Smiles

The Prime Minister engaged in light-hearted conversations with the children, who presented him with handmade rakhis and cards. Smiling and sharing in the festive cheer, PM Modi thanked them for their heartfelt wishes.

Teachers and NGO representatives accompanying the children expressed appreciation for the opportunity to celebrate with the country’s leader, calling it a memorable experience for the youngsters.

Earlier in the day, PM Modi had extended his greetings to the nation through a message on the social media platform.

“Best wishes on the special occasion of Raksha Bandhan,” the Prime Minister posted on X.

The Prime Minister’s celebration with children from across Delhi emphasised the inclusive spirit of Raksha Bandhan, a custom rooted in family ties. It showcased how such traditions can foster a sense of unity, care, and cultural pride among the younger generation.

The celebration at 7 Lok Kalyan Marg reflected the broader message of Raksha Bandhan, that bonds of care and protection can transcend blood relations, reinforcing the values of kindness, respect, and responsibility.

For the children, the morning was not just a festive gathering. It was also an inspiring encounter with the nation’s leader, one they are likely to cherish for years to come.
