PM Modi Pays Tribute To Dr APJ Abdul Kalam On His Death Anniversary

Prime Minister Narendra Modi paid heartfelt tribute to former President Dr APJ Abdul Kalam on his death anniversary, calling him an ‘inspiring visionary, outstanding scientist, and a great patriot’.

In a message shared on X (formerly Twitter), PM Modi said Kalam’s life and thoughts continue to motivate India’s youth to contribute towards building a developed and strong nation.

“On his death anniversary, paying homage to our beloved former President, Dr. APJ Abdul Kalam. He is remembered as an inspiring visionary, outstanding scientist, mentor and a great patriot. His dedication to our nation was exemplary. His thoughts motivate the youth of India to contribute towards building a developed and strong India,” the Prime Minister wrote.

A Life of Service and Simplicity

The nation widely admired Dr Kalam, who served as the 11th President of India from 2002 to 2007, for his humble lifestyle and non-partisan approach.

Known as the ‘Missile Man of India’, he played a central role in developing India’s missile and nuclear capabilities, particularly through the Integrated Guided Missile Development Programme, which led to the creation of key defence technologies including the Agni and Prithvi missiles.

Kalam was also a key figure behind the Pokhran-II nuclear tests in 1998, where five nuclear devices were successfully detonated in Rajasthan.

His role in India’s rise as a nuclear power remains one of his most significant contributions to national security.

Kalam, often referred to as the ‘People’s President’, devoted much of his post-presidential life to engaging with youth, students, and educators.

He believed deeply in the power of education and innovation to transform society.

His untimely passing on 27 July 2015, while delivering a lecture at IIM Shillong, marked the end of a remarkable journey driven by knowledge and patriotism.

Nationwide Homage

BJP National President and Union Minister JP Nadda also paid homage, describing Kalam’s life as ‘a remarkable saga of struggle and success’.

He noted how Dr Kalam overcame numerous challenges with determination and went on to occupy the highest constitutional office in the country.

“His unparalleled contribution to making India a nuclear-powered nation is unforgettable. His thoughts and actions will always inspire us in our service to the nation,” Nadda shared on X.

Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath echoed these sentiments, calling Kalam a divine inspiration for the entire nation.

He praised the former President’s dedication, simplicity, and his lasting impact on science, education, and innovation.

PM Modi and other national leaders continue to uphold Dr Kalam’s legacy, recognising him not only as a scientist and leader but also as a symbol of integrity, humility, and visionary thinking.

However, his life’s work remains a beacon for young Indians striving to serve the nation through knowledge, perseverance, and selfless dedication.
