During the dinner, PM Modi also met Rana Mohip, who had famously sung ‘Vaishnava Jana To’ during India’s 150th birth anniversary celebrations of Mahatma Gandhi, acknowledging his dedication to promoting Indian music and culture.

Strengthening India-Caribbean relations

This visit to Trinidad and Tobago marks PM Modi’s second trip to the Caribbean within eight months, following his November 2024 visit to Guyana.

The visits highlight India’s growing partnership with the Caribbean Community (CARICOM) and the strategic importance India places on strengthening ties with Caribbean nations.

PM Modi’s visit and the exchange of gifts and cultural celebrations will further deepen relations between India and Trinidad and Tobago.

The trip strengthens historic cultural links while opening new avenues for cooperation in trade, culture, and diplomacy between India and the Caribbean region.
