The Ministry of Health and Family Welfare has firmly clarified that there is no established link between COVID-19 vaccines and sudden adult deaths following recovery from the virus.
The statement follows extensive research conducted by the Indian Council of Medical Research (ICMR) and the All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS), which found no scientific evidence connecting vaccination to unexplained fatalities.
ICMR & NCDC studies reinforce vaccine effectiveness
The Ministry highlighted that additional studies by ICMR and the National Centre for Disease Control (NCDC) further reinforced the safety and effectiveness of vaccines administered in India.
Health officials confirmed that cases of serious adverse effects remain extremely rare and that vaccines continue to offer strong protection against severe COVID-19 outcomes.
Experts identify multiple causes of sudden cardiac death
Medical experts clarified that sudden cardiac deaths can result from several other risk factors, including:
- Genetic predispositions
- Unhealthy lifestyle habits
- Undiagnosed or pre-existing medical conditions
- Post-COVID complications
They emphasised that blaming vaccines without evidence distracts from genuine health concerns and complicates accurate diagnosis.
Health Ministry condemns misinformation
The Ministry strongly condemned false claims linking COVID-19 vaccines to sudden deaths, labelling them misleading, unscientific, and dangerous. It warned that such misinformation fuels vaccine hesitancy, spreads fear, and undermines public trust in life-saving immunisation programs.
Health authorities reiterated that vaccination remains the most effective tool in the fight against COVID-19.
With billions of doses safely administered across India, the government urged the public to trust verified scientific data and official sources, while ignoring baseless rumours and conspiracy theories spreading on social media.
Ministry reaffirms commitment to public health
Reassuring the public, the Ministry reaffirmed its full confidence in India’s vaccination program and called on citizens to continue supporting the national mission for a healthy, protected society.
“There is no credible scientific evidence linking COVID-19 vaccines to sudden deaths,” the statement concluded.
