On the occasion of the 11th International Day of Yoga (IDY), Union Ministers emphasised that yoga plays a vital role not only in physical well-being but also in mental health, reducing stress and fostering overall balance in life.

JP Nadda highlights yoga’s mental health benefits

Union Health Minister JP Nadda led the Yoga Day celebrations in New Delhi and underscored yoga’s profound impact on mental wellness.

“Yoga means union…that is, it is the union of body, mind, soul and brain. It connects the soul with the divine through physical and mental activity. Yoga is an expression of self-knowledge,” Nadda said in a post on X.

Addressing participants during the celebration, Nadda described yoga as a mental exercise that unites the mind, brain, and spirit.

“Yoga enables people to recognise their true selves. It creates positivity, helps achieve mental balance, and leads to success in life,” he added, encouraging citizens to embrace India’s ancient wellness tradition.

Ayush Ministry: Yoga is a global health solution

The Union Minister of State (Independent Charge) for Ayush reiterated that yoga has now become a global solution for physical and mental health.

“When the world is struggling with imbalance and stress, India’s Yoga has emerged as a ray of hope,” it posted on social media handle.

Anupriya Patel: Yoga is a priceless cultural gift

Union Minister of State for Health Anupriya Patel called yoga “an invaluable gift of Indian culture.”

“Yoga has given the whole world the direction to live a healthy life. This is a wonderful science that connects the body, mind, and soul,” she stated.

She urged people to pledge on International Yoga Day to adopt yoga as part of their daily routines. “Let us pledge on this World Yoga Day that we will promote a healthy, active and positive lifestyle by adopting yoga in our daily routine.” she posted on X.

According to recent research by AIIMS, New Delhi, yoga contributes significantly to managing cardiac and neurological disorders.

The study also emphasises its effectiveness in promoting women’s health and mental well-being.

Pralhad Joshi urges daily yoga for peace and prosperity

Union Consumer Affairs Minister Pralhad Joshi encouraged people to incorporate yoga into their daily lives. “Engage in yoga daily and find good health, prosperity, and peace in society,” he said.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi led the 11th International Day of Yoga celebrations from Visakhapatnam.

“Yoga provides the world with the direction of peace at a time when conflicts and instability are rising,” he said.

On the occasion, PM Modi released a special commemorative postage stamp to mark the 11th edition of IDY.

“This stamp symbolises India’s ancient yoga tradition and its global acceptance. It is not just a memory but a message for future generations,” said Union Minister Shripad Naik.

Nirmala Sitharaman stresses IDY 2025 theme: ‘Yoga for one earth, one health’

Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman led the Yoga Day event at the Arun Jaitley National Institute of Financial Management (AJNIFM) in Faridabad.

She emphasised the 2025 theme, “Yoga for One Earth, One Health.”

Her office shared on X, “This theme highlights the interconnectedness of human and planetary health and echoes the global vision of collective wellness, rooted in India’s philosophy of Sarve Santu Niramaya (May all be free from disease).”

CM Devendra Fadnavis: ‘Yoga is holistic way to rejuvenate mind’

CM Fadnavis addressed media at the ‘Varkari Bhakti Yoga’ programme jointly organised by Savitribai Phule Pune University on the occasion of International Day of Yoga (IDY).

During his speech, he said, “Prime Minister Narendra Modi proposed Yoga Day in the United Nations to make the world accept our ancient knowledge of yoga, and this is the only proposal in the history of the United Nations that has been supported by all countries. IDY has been celebrated for the last 11 years.”
