
Prime Minister Narendra Modi made history as the first Indian Prime Minister to visit Croatia.
Upon arrival in Zagreb, Croatian Prime Minister Andrej Plenković welcomed him with a ceremonial reception at the Banski Dvori Palace.
Prime Minister Modi expressed heartfelt gratitude on social media, calling it a ‘landmark visit’ that opens a new chapter in India-Croatia friendship and cooperation.

During the visit, PM Modi held comprehensive discussions with Croatian President Zoran Milanović.
The leaders reviewed the full range of bilateral ties and explored ways to deepen cooperation in trade, culture, and innovation.
PM Modi also met Prime Minister Plenković for high-level delegation talks, where the leaders discussed strengthening partnerships in defence, security, pharmaceuticals, agriculture, renewable energy, digital and clean technology, and semiconductors.
Building synergies across sectors
Both countries agreed to expand cooperation in shipbuilding, cybersecurity, and information technology.
The leaders recognised the potential to create reliable supply chains and highlighted the growing popularity of Indian culture in Croatia, especially yoga and Indology studies.
PM Modi noted the importance of people-to-people exchanges and cultural affinity in strengthening bilateral relations.
The two Prime Ministers jointly paid tribute at the Monument to the Homeland in Zagreb.
Prime Minister Modi shared his appreciation for the warm gestures and highlighted the strong bonds of culture and respect shared between the nations.
He praised the vibrant Indian diaspora in Croatia for maintaining ties with their roots and contributing to local development.
PM Modi reaffirmed that India and Croatia are united by shared values, democracy, pluralism, the rule of law, and equality.
The leaders discussed global issues, with PM Modi emphasising the importance of resolving conflicts through dialogue and diplomacy, not war.
He also thanked Croatia for its solidarity following the April 22 terrorist attack in India.
PM Modi’s visit marks a turning point in India-Croatia relations.
The strategic discussions held during the trip aim to boost bilateral trade, foster innovation, and create sustainable partnerships across key sectors.
