The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) has launched a scathing attack on Lok Sabha Leader of Opposition Rahul Gandhi following his fresh remarks on ‘Operation Sindoor’, accusing him of speaking the ‘language of Pakistan’ and undermining India’s defence establishment.
The Congress MP had questioned the silence of External Affairs Minister S. Jaishankar on the number of aircraft lost by the Indian Air Force during the operation.
BJP spokesperson CR Kesavan accused Rahul Gandhi of consistently doubting India’s institutions, including the armed forces.
“Now, he is sounding like the propaganda in chief of Pakistan,” said Kesavan, asserting that the Congress leader’s statements were being used by Pakistan to spin an anti-India narrative.
“Our nation deserves a more responsible and patriotic parliamentarian than Rahul Gandhi,” he said.

Facts Already Presented, Says BJP
Kesavan also referred to the Indian armed forces’ press briefing on 11 May, during which operational details were provided.
He criticised Gandhi for refusing to trust these official statements, suggesting that both the Congress party and its leadership placed political expediency above national interest.
Echoing the sentiment, BJP leader Gourav Vallabh questioned Gandhi’s line of enquiry. “Why is he not asking how many Pakistani planes and missiles were shot down? He won’t, because he speaks the language of Pakistan,” Vallabh said.
BJP MP Brij Lal termed Gandhi’s comments as ‘immature’ and accused him of undermining India’s military and diplomatic efforts.
He highlighted that Indian forces had effectively countered drone attacks from Pakistan using indigenous missile systems.
Lal also accused Gandhi of showing undue admiration for China and criticised his lack of national responsibility.
INDIA Bloc Defends Gandhi
Meanwhile, opposition leaders rallied behind Rahul Gandhi.
Congress leader Supriya Shrinate countered the BJP, stating that asking questions is not a crime.
She accused the government of alerting Pakistan ahead of ‘Operation Sindoor’ and suggested that this may have allowed high-profile terrorists like Hafiz Saeed and Masood Azhar to escape.
“Why must I not believe that you put the Indian Armed Forces in harm’s way?” she asked, calling for accountability.
DMK spokesperson TKS Elangovan also defended Gandhi, saying the Congress MP was merely asking for facts.
“Let the BJP respond with a clear statement,” he said, while criticising the government’s reluctance to hold open debates in Parliament.
In a post on X, Rahul Gandhi reiterated his demand for clarity, writing, “How many Indian aircraft did we lose because Pakistan knew? This wasn’t a lapse. It was a crime. And the nation deserves the truth.”

The political storm shows no sign of abating, as the BJP continues to defend the government’s handling of ‘Operation Sindoor’ while opposition parties demand transparency and accountability.
