Senior military officials on Monday delivered a detailed account of India’s robust defence posture and precision strikes following the recent terror attack in Jammu and Kashmir’s Pahalgam.
The high-level briefing revealed how Indian forces repelled Pakistani aggression without breaching international boundaries.
Indian Military Ensures Security Without Crossing Borders
Lt Gen Rajiv Ghai, Director General of Military Operations (DGMO), confirmed that Indian troops did not cross the Line of Control (LoC) or International Border (IB) during the operation.
“All our defensive actions took place within Indian territory,” he said, refuting reports suggesting an escalation.
Ghai highlighted the evolution of terror threats, particularly the targeting of civilians in attacks like the one at Shiv Khori and the Pahalgam strike.
He stressed that these marked a strategic turning point in India’s counter-terror response.
Between May 9 and 10, the Pakistan Air Force (PAF) launched multiple drone incursions into Indian airspace.
Ghai noted that India’s multi-tiered air defence system intercepted and neutralised all incoming threats. “Not a single PAF drone breached our defence shield,” he asserted.
He added that Indian forces used shoulder-fired weapons and integrated counter-drone technologies to bring down hostile UAVs. The Border Security Force (BSF) played a crucial role, with commendations extended from its top leadership to the ground forces.
Navy Asserts Total Control Over Maritime Domain
Vice Admiral A.N. Pramod, Director General of Naval Operations, outlined the Navy’s crucial role in asserting maritime superiority.
Using advanced sensors and real-time intelligence, the Navy operated under a layered fleet air defence system to detect and neutralise aerial threats, including drones, missiles, and aircraft.
He highlighted that India’s Carrier Battle Group, featuring MiG-29K fighters and early warning aircraft, served as a formidable barrier to any hostile approach. “No Pakistani aircraft could come near our fleet,” said Vice Admiral Pramod.
Naval aviation units carried out day and night operations with precision, validating anti-missile and anti-aircraft capabilities. He said Pakistani air and naval forces were effectively contained along the Makran coast, rendering them unable to retaliate meaningfully.
“Our dominance at sea gave us the option to strike at will, if required,” he stated, underscoring India’s deterrence and readiness in the Indian Ocean Region.
Military Sends Clear Strategic Message
The coordinated response of the Army, Air Force, and Navy under Operation Sindoor highlighted India’s capability to launch swift and overwhelming action in the face of cross-border terrorism.
The operation demonstrated not only defensive resilience but also a clear message of deterrence.
