Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Wednesday extended warm wishes to the nation on the occasion of Akshaya Tritiya, expressing hope that the festival would inspire renewed commitment towards building a Viksit Bharat  a developed India.

A Day Of Eternal Prosperity

Akshaya Tritiya, also known as Akha Teej or Akti, is a major Hindu festival observed on the third day of the Shukla Paksha in the Hindu lunar calendar.

The term Akshaya means ‘eternal’ or ‘indestructible’, symbolising endless prosperity and good fortune.

Many people consider the festival highly auspicious for starting new ventures, purchasing gold, and performing religious rituals.

Traditionally, devotees further mark the day by buying gold — a symbol of wealth and security — to invite blessings for enduring success and abundance.

Leaders Share Their Festive Messages

Taking to X (formerly Twitter), Prime Minister Modi posted, “Infinite best wishes to all of you on Akshaya Tritiya. May this auspicious festival dedicated to humanity bring success, prosperity and happiness to everyone, and give new strength to the resolve of a Viksit Bharat.”


Union Home Minister Amit Shah also shared his message on social media, highlighting the festival’s connection to both nature and culture.

“Infinite best wishes for Akshaya Tritiya, the festival symbolising the confluence of nature and culture. I wish that this holy festival brings eternal virtue, good fortune, and prosperity in everyone’s life,” he posted.


Union Minister JP Nadda echoed similar sentiments, stating, “I convey my heartfelt best wishes to all of you on the occasion of Akshaya Tritiya, which bestows everlasting virtuous results. May this auspicious day bring an inexhaustible flow of happiness, prosperity, and auspicious opportunities in everyone’s life. May everyone’s life be blessed with positivity, divinity, and self-study.”

A Festival Steeped In Spiritual Significance

In addition to its association with wealth and new beginnings, Akshaya Tritiya holds deep religious significance.

Devotees believe that any charitable act or ritual performed on this day yields lifelong spiritual benefits.

The day also coincides with Parashurama Jayanti, commemorating the birth of Lord Vishnu’s sixth incarnation, Parashurama.

Devotees further offer prayers not only to Lord Vishnu but also to Lord Shiva, adding to the spiritual richness of the occasion.
